Allison Jones

In her current position as Dean of Academic Affairs/Curriculum at Los Angeles City College, she has had a major role in Program Development and Expansion. Her primary duties have included facilitation of the daily operations of the Performing and Visual Arts, Allied Health, Family and Consumer Studies, Speech Communications, English, ESL, Foreign Languages, Humanities and Athletics Departments, as well as the Library. Allison monitors expenditures and maintains budgetary accounts. She hires, supervises and evaluates faculty and staff. She likes to create a positive working environment that promotes unity and teamwork.
As a member of the Enrollment Management Team, Dean Jones is involved in the monitoring, canceling and changing of classes in response to utilization. As a member of the Educational Planning and Budget Committees she participates in evaluating proposed offerings, analyzing of enrollment history, demand, budget and program requirements to determine the number of offerings.

Allison serves on the Campus and District Curriculum Committees and has responsibly for supervision of course outlines and program updates and their approval at the District level, as well as reconciling teaching techniques and strategies with emerging educational and technological needs. She is also a member of the Matriculation Committee and Student Leaning Outcomes Task Force. In additional, she is the Academic Affairs liaison to Student Services as well as a member of the Student Disciplinary and Grievances Committees.

Allison Jones has extensive experience and expertise in the delivery of instructional programs including academic, vocational and basic skills, continuing education and lifelong learning. Most of her work experience has been in culturally diverse communities and with multi-ethnic students.
She is also a liaison to the community as a participant on the Recruitment Committee and the supervisor of most of the vocational programs advisory committees. She works closely with administrators in the Los Angeles Unified School District to develop partnerships that customize course offerings for expansion to satellite locations.

Her experience in the community college system includes three districts and is highly diversified. Allison has taught both credit and non-credit courses and has worked both in classified positions and certificated ones. She has served as a member of numerous community and professional organizations, in addition to district and state-wide groups.
